National Youth Organization

With respect to special attention paid by the government of the Islamic Republic to the youth and promotion of the status of the country's young generations and better utilization of their merits and capabilities, the National Center for the youth was transformed to the National Youth Organization to undertake the following fundamental objectives:

- the National Youth Organization is required to draw a comprehensive program for tackling the affairs of the country's youth with respect to special status, role and main missions of various government and non government organizations concerned with the youth affairs such as Basij (resistance mobilization) and in line with the needs of the young generation in cultural, social, political, employment, scientific, recreation and education spheres.

- Identification and follow up for transferring those activities of executive organization which could be undertaken by non-government organization through necessary arrangements.

- On cases which require planning, the National Youth Organization based on each case will prepare the required plans including objectives, organizational reforms, financial facilities and executive support for non-governmental organizations.

Objectives

Taking required measures for proper implementation of the resolutions issued by the Supreme Youth Council and leaching the affairs of the youth, planning, supervision, coordination and establishing relationship with governmental establishments concerned with the questions related to the youth and making efforts to create job opportunities, occupational training, healthy cultural and recreation facilities and paving the ground for acquiring housing and forming family through the concerned authorities and monitoring their performance and evaluating the results of their activities.

Main tasks:

- Studying and evaluating the cultural, social, job training and expertise of the youth aimed at planning in the framework of research projects to submit to the Supreme Youth Council.

- Studying macro cultural, social, economical and technical planning for the youth for presentation to the Supreme Youth Council for decision making and ratification.

- Paving the ground for materialization of the young generation education charter in all areas.

- Reviewing and evaluation of laws relevant to the youth to remove their shortcomings and reviewing the needs, and reporting its findings to the council.

- Supervising the proper implementation of Supreme Youth Council's resolution by concerned establishments.

- Cooperation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of the performance of ministries, institutions and organizations concerned with youth affairs and reporting its findings to the Supreme Youth Council.

- Getting in touch with cultural, social and economic scholars and experts to make use of their ideas about the young generations.

- Providing the opportunity for participation of the youth in country's social, political and cultural affairs.

- Providing the means and facilities for holding gatherings, conferences and national festivals on various issues concerning the youth.

- Monitoring the coverage of resolutions of the Supreme Youth Council in mass media and issuing the required permission for establishment of information centers and consultation services in non-governmental youth organizations.

- Monitoring the consultation services, educational, occupational, family life and psychological health advices provided to the youth.

- Conducting necessary research works to final appropriate methods and approaches to safeguard the youth against possible deviations.

- Providing and facilitating logistical backing to improve and promote the youth affairs.

Performance report

- Establishment of specialized educational, recreation, marriage, social, political and employment commissions.

- Formulating and compiling the youth charter, detailed objectives and executive policies of other institution with respect to the charter.

- Study and research works (writing and translating) and assisting the students with other thesis.

- Holding of meetings and gatherings.

- Activation of provincial youth councils

- Carrying out international activities

- Conducting propagation and publication activities

- Launching computer center

- Organizing special projects: participation of youth in country's reconstruction campaign (youth collaboration project).

- Youth participation schemes through non-governmental youth organizations.

- Providing assistance and expansion of consulting centers.

- Establishment and expansion of the youth information centers.

In 1999, in addition to above mentioned projects the following schemes were also underway:

- The youth national dialogue and consultation scheme

- Improvement of the social condition of the youth

- Providing assistance for recreation activities of the youth

- Project for identification of assistance to young celebrities
